It carries on the charism and legacy of the CommonSpirit Health, continuing a long history of religious women and men who founded hospitals to care for the sick, the poor, and the dying. Like all Catholic health systems, CommonSpirit St. Luke's Health understands medicine as an extension of the healing ministry of Jesus. Care is guided by the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, by a deep respect for the dignity of every human life from conception to natural death, and by a commitment to serve everyone — especially those who are poor, vulnerable, or underserved.
